Angela Davis was placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list in 1970. She spent sixteen months in jail awaiting trial on charges that a jury ultimately rejected unanimously. Her imprisonment galvanized an international campaign — ‘Free Angela’ became a global rallying cry. She was acquitted on June 4, 1972.
