Montgomery County, Alabama

Cradle of the modern civil rights movement. Site of Rosa Parks's December 1, 1955 arrest, the 381-day Montgomery Bus Boycott that followed, the first pastorate of Martin Luther King Jr. at Dexter Avenue Baptist, and the destination of the 1965 Selma to Montgomery marches. Home today of the Equal Justice Initiative's Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice.
