The historic Black commercial and civic district along Auburn Avenue in Atlanta. Fortune magazine called it “the richest Negro street in the world” in 1956. Home to Ebenezer Baptist Church, the King family home, the original WERD radio station (the first Black-owned in the United States), the offices of the Atlanta Daily World, and Atlanta Life Insurance, founded by Alonzo Herndon.
