Whitney Plantation

Wallace, Louisiana

The only plantation museum in the United States to center the perspective of the enslaved rather than the enslaver. Founded by New Orleans attorney John Cummings in 2014 with $8 million of his own funds. The grounds include the Field of Angels memorial to enslaved children who died on Louisiana plantations and the Wall of Honor inscribed with the names of more than 100,000 individuals enslaved in Louisiana.
